Trump wants to go back to the golden age of the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory is a more accurate characaterization - again based on his own repeated statements - than whatever wishcasting others are doing.
There's something weird happening where The Discourse about the tariffs is about how Trump is trying to return us to 1950's and 1960's, the manufacturing heyday of America, but he's not! He' been very very explicit about this. He wants to return us to the 1890's. That's a different project!

HANDS OFF Protest in Saginaw, Michigan, 4-5-25. 300+ people showed up. The best part was that the cars driving by never stopped honking and cheering for more than 2 hours.

I think some in the Senate have convinced themselves that the backlash to folding will be limited to “the left” and therefore ignorable.
