Re-tyred Englishwoman who’d love to ride her bicycle but is not keen on dying just yet. Sad about the planet. Loves the British Isles / North West European Archipelago (see, we ARE still in Europe!). Don’t expect a cohesive theme; just what’s on my mind.
In the 21st Century, with roads busier than ever, why do drivers not have to get their vision tested? Peering at a numberplate 5 parked cars away is still the required standard, even on the "renew your driving licence at age 70" form www.gov.uk/driving-eyes... p.s. yes, I get a regular free eye test

Sat in a patisserie in Stroud's Five Valleys shopping centre, next to an amazing mural. The artist has continued the tables and chairs through onto the mural with identical matches of the real ones in the patisserie, making the whole look like we were sat in a scene from Paris.

We have owed Ukraine assistance since 2014. We are still not pulling our collective weight. They gave up the protection of being a anuclear power for the protection offered in these accords and we've badly let them down.

Jubilee Lake, Royal Wootton Bassett. I noticed that the willow trees, instead of dozing for the winter, were putting forth catkins and pussy willow buds. #climatechange #artoutdoors #art

Russia was the first oathbreaker in 2014, but the United Kingdom and Unites States followed quickly when they reneged on the Budapest Memorandum and did nothing to ensure Ukraine's security in the face of Russian aggression, and continue to offer too little, too late to Nuclear-disarmed Ukraine.

A little graphic to remind us the cost of commuting across two routes operated by different rail operators, each a monopoly for that transport type. And they wonder why we cling to our petrol cars!

This has all been well-researched. There have even been studies to check whether moon phases cause autism (they don't). publichealth.jhu.edu/2025/vaccine...

Many countries reflexively voted in right wing governments after the banking crisis and we've all suffered if we've been citizens of one of them. Seeing this stupidity Continue into later terms, electing governments with pro-Russian rhetoric and mafia-style financial decisions, is mind-boggling.

This (photo from my TV screen) is the seismic shock of Scotland fans celebrating at the final whistle of the Scottish men's football team against Denmark. Seismologists said it registered like a small earthquake.

This is worth repeating, with the addition that, if electronically circulated, the piece is offered to the at least the same audience as the original and all paywalls removed.

Nathan Gill sentenced to 10½ years. I hope it's somewhere grim. Treasonous turd. Putin had already annexed Crimea when Russia began greasing Gill's sweaty avaricious palm.

I don't know of we should be encouraged or concerned that Farage claimed he appeared on RT for a fee of around £500 (if this is all he actually received). The amount makes it seem he appeared for ideological rather than financial reasons. He also met with pro-Russian politicians in Occupied Ukraine.

@annaguirre.bsky.social was describing the difficulties of keeping character timelines in order. My suggestion would be to open a spreadsheet app and set out all dates, astronomical cycles, where the characters are, what they are doing etc. The beauty of a spreadsheet is you can insert sections.
