I just read your blog post you included in the newsletter and it made me realize I often count by ones. Especially if the reason why I have to count something is boring. And now I have a lot of Thoughts.

I agree! It also feels like maybe they have a slight excess of mailbox inventory to be ordering 100 more. That’s a lot of mailboxes! At a furniture store no less! The context doesn’t really match the math goal imo (like most of the word problems I see from this curriculum…)

It’s absolutely cursed that my teacher in service days ALWAYS start just around August 21st (somebody manifest a different job for me?) because this would be a dream 🌽🌽🌽

We’re on the 3rd of what feels like endless standardized assessments since coming back from winter break. All of the culture in schools around standardized assessments is also 😬 - celebrating those who do “well”, anchor for report cards (another 😬), family conferences…
