Books take me to other places, worlds and timelines. I write poetry and create things, landscaping to stitching, baking to blankets. Happiest in Nature, I'm a thinker who appreciates practicality. Happily married, we've cats, dogs, chickens and family :D

Put me in mind of a little watercolour I did for of my grandchildren-in-law—obviously not the same thing but if you had a book and were wearing snazzy sunnies, then... well, you get it :D

thanks for the gift of time you've given me in reading and letting me know you liked this. This is the edited version, the original being a 'live write' I've decided needed changing. I'd lose the original but then I'd also lose the thread.

ancient remains of a dino-tree that reminds me of an enormous, broken femur, hollowed of its marrow and inviting the curious to enter and explore

a couple of the 'characters' in our front yard... in a green ballroom of courtiers, these are the king and queen

Sausage roll, anyone?

Sunny, mid 70's, and I made these another day but I could really fancy one right about now with a nice cup of strong Yorkshire tea.

On Life's Pier

take a deep breath
perspective's everything

criss-crossed with angled shadows
weathered boards may carry us
way out from shore or back again

the choice of direction
entirely up to us

wingless, we pause—
resume our mindful walk

There's a poem here I've not yet written
that contemplates contrasts:
the purling, white froth
forms for fleet moments
in the hill's runoff waters
that flow across the face of fossils
frozen in time
locked in place
growing more visible
each year
as fluid dissolves stone

Another oldie from back in the UK

never got around to adding a poem to this pic I took back in the UK 11 years ago... each time I think to use it, I decide adding words would only detract from its impact on me.

sweet potato pies from Thanksgiving using sweet potatoes from the garden... tasted better than they looked here with that pastry a little overcooked in places but with whipped cream no-one was worried about it :)

on these rotten shores
the lacewing daintily decorates
green branchlets
hangs pale green bulbs
from stiff silk thread
lighting up my day

Early in spring, waiting courtiers line the green-floored ballroom, watch as the King bows to his curtseying Queen in invitation to dance a stately minuet... the notes of wild birds a delicate, joyful orchestra

wild flowers in the cattle pastures (a few summers back); part of our veggie garden when it was tidy and not burned the hell out of; some cacti I found growing here in the lower yard by itself; one of the many cardoons that spring up... all without any of our help.

one of the outdoors cats (belong to my m-i-l) named Cat Friend (no idea why) and our Great Pyr 'guardian' dog with her puppies from 4 years back. She'd shed a lot of her fur while pregnant but it grew back and she's shaggier now. Her name's Rosie.
