As long as I’m sharing selfies, here’s one of my favorite skating selfies! Dang, do I miss this skate park. I promise I was wearing protective gear when I was actually skating any of the features.

今日もう一つなのサンフランシスコで撮った写真を投稿します。これは「Monterrey Cypress」（ヒノキ科の部分）です。写真を撮った時は知らなかったけど、この木はカリフォルニア州の北以外、自然に生えません。けれども、とても綺麗だから、他の国や場所で植えてあります。

先週、サンフランシスコに行きました。色々の植物写真を撮ったけど、その中で一番気が入ったものはこれです。海の際や風吹いてある丘の地に育つ通り、葉が強くて、少し革のようのものです。でも、その冴えない景色から、そんなに鮮やかな花が出ます。

見たと少し驚きで嬉しかったの。あの日は誕生日だから世界からプレゼントをうけたかんじでした。

この辺は、テキサスに比べて、一切違っている植物があります。今日、この地域にいると絶対役に立つ言葉「苔」を覚えました。日本語で、地衣類の名の末には「コケ」がよく付けてあるけど、今までその部分の意味を知っていませんでした。

今からの所、引っ越すまで、普通の投稿の代わりに描きだけのアカウントになるそうですよ。

クリスマスに貰った細いペンで描いたガーゴイルです。ペンを使うのは大変難しいです。間違ったことを正確にするのは無理で、変な形を作だちゃうとその変な形を示す仕方ないです。

とにかく、この子は可愛いですね？描いたことには喜びました。

I'm still on hiatus, but I couldn't help but try this out, it seemed fun.

Felt good to make something for a sec. Also, these crazy pattern tights are dumb AF and they are coming off immediately now that I'm done. 😝

今日、一つの漢字勉強目標が完成でした。

具体的に言って、1,500字以上が今から知っています。前の千字以上の目標から15月間が経ちました。次の500字が必ずもっとすぐにきます。

よく言った句、「漢字が段々習いやすくなる」とは、実際的に正確そうですね。

ようやくやった！

今日は、始めてから丸で半年前、徳間アニメ絵本の「隣のトトロ」を読んでしまいました。

始まる時、言葉が大体もう知っていたのに、読書力が弱かったのでとてもとても遅く読んでいました。よくほったらかしたり、難しさにしょんぼり、時々思いように進みました。

所が、今、字や言葉をスキャンするのが出来るし、カナだけで書いた言葉でもよく認識するし、最後の章を速くて飛び読めました。

その間に青空での日本語で書いてある投稿をよく読んで、逆転裁判の最初の章をやって、いい練習がよくありました。この本の初めと終わりの大きい区別はそれらの結果でしょうね。

My heart is so full tonight; got to listen to amazing musicians all day and see my favorite band for the third time in just the last several days.

For my invertebrate-loving followers: several shield bugs very excited about, or perhaps excited by, a brilliant Pride-of-Barbados blossom cluster.

Seen in a neighborhood walk in Austin, Texas.

Just to clarify, this is what I am referring to. I woke up to four new followers, none of whom seem to have any common interests with me or my world, and all of whom, if they are actually real people, seem to be straight cis dudes who are very patriotic and/or religious.

For #makeaterriblecomicday2024 I decided to get a little bit of the story that I’ve been gradually trying to piece together out of my head and onto paper.

There are so many things I don’t like about it but also hey! That’s an actual completed comic page!

Until today, I was too afraid to even try.
A five-panel comic. 1. A woman looking over her shoulder: “Wait, why are you following me?” A response: “I don’t know, it just seems kinda obvious you need the help.” 2. A heavy-built woman continues: “I don’t know you. You *definitely* don’t know me. But you tried to help.” 3. The larger woman, gesturing: “Why did you even do that? It’s not like you could have made a difference.” The smaller woman start to respond: “I—“ 4. The larger woman continues: “But thank you. I’ll see you to some place safe, little thing,” while walking alongside and placing an arm behind the smaller woman. 5. In a wide panel with only the top half of one’s head and the bottom half of the other visible, the smaller woman, looking surprised, says “!!”, and then continues “I’m not *that* little!” The larger woman looks down at her, slightly amused.

Tonight’s good, and also last week’s attempt at the same. Today was peach and a sautéed collard green salad on the side, earlier an arugula salad, either way wish a dashimaki-inspired bacon and havarti omelette (?) / egg wrap. Both delish! 🥰

The meal from earlier this week, a dashimaki tamago-inspired egg wrap with havarti and bacon integrated, with an arugula, almond, shōyu, and Boursin bite salad on the side.

Photo from what may very well be my last roller derby game. I’m really happy it was a good one. 🥰

I’m gonna miss my league so much, and I really hope I have more derby in my future, but… if that’s not in store, this was a lovely way to go out.
