STOP THE REAL STEAL
Now, let's be respectful. It's President Piggy. 🙂

Uhh... that would be President Piggy. 😂

No matter what the reason's for
And your flag decal won't get you
Into Heaven any more."

I think something like 40% of people at the time did not support removing Nixon from office, so apparently a lot of the country --sadly, right from the start -- didn't learn anything.

This UVA fiasco is what happens when no one in the highest echelons of power has any integrity, and operates only for corrupt, self-serving purposes.

It's a transactional realm where the most powerful manipulate down the chain of power to achieve a desired outcome. Honest people don't survive long in this world, because it's pretty much impossible to operate with integrity in an environment that rests on an ethical equivalent of shifting sand.

This is life in any politically connected world, albeit in this case an extreme example spanning both academe and gov't. Powerful people exert power downward for their own benefit, but they must be sensitive to those above with more power who have ways to bring hurt to the less powerful.

Hmm...the "money sucking" insurance companies are only money sucking when offering ACA policies? And if gov't gave you money to buy health insurance, the same companies would no longer be "money sucking" and would sell you a better policy for less? Right...'cause that's how insurance companies roll.

IBM lays off people pretty much every year, especially in higher-wage countries. They often then turn around and hire up new employees in lower-wage countries. I worked there for about 12 years and endured this both as a manager and as an "individual contributor."

While courts may be reticent to sanction Trump, they damn well should sanction the agency head(s) if they do not comply with the court's order.

Why don't Dems take a lesson from this gentleman and start getting in the faces of these Trump/MAGA ass kissers? You don't fall back on decorum when your opponents are burning down your house.

Good grief...What a moron!

Yes, our institutions have proven incapable of checking the power, and constitutional/legal abuses of an authoritarian president. Structural reform across all three branches of government is critical to the future of American democracy. This will require large majorities across federal/state gov'ts.

The "all powerful" President Trump conceding here that Putin holds all the cards as far as he's concerned. Tell me again that Trump isn't taking his marching orders from Vladimir Putin, his puppeteer-in-chief.
October 19, 2025 at 3:28 PM
Yeah, Trump is telling us clearly and succinctly his big plan. He will continue to shit on America until he has destroyed it. His boss, Putin, has instructed him to make it so.

America...you have been warned.

Yeah, same as it ever was. The @nytimes.com , America's "newspaper of record," is afraid of Trump. Even though their regular equivocation essentially enables him, they persist in downplaying the illegality/unconstitutionality of his actions, and totally miss the big picture of America's destruction.

Thanks for this post, Eddie. I was 12 when the '67 riots broke out. I remember seeing the national guard out on patrol in their jeeps as we drove back into town early in the morning from an Ohio trip. And I remember smelling smoke from the fires. I do not remember hearing this story -- no surprise.
