Tonight I say good bye to my sabbatical. I’m back on the clock for Loyola Monday. It’s been a great break after years of administrative duties. I’ll be posting more on my work in targeted violence, terrorism prevention, and mental health. A new set of dry erase markers is ready for the classroom.

The New Orleans and Las Vegas attacks show stark media bias: Jabbar's act labeled terrorism, Livelsberger's a "mental health tragedy." Our research finds Muslim-perpetrated attacks receive more coverage and are more often framed as ideological.

The end of my semester sabbatical is quickly approaching. I’ll be back in the classroom in January. It’s been almost 7 years since I’ve been primarily in the classroom due to my admin work. Excited to wind up my career as a teacher. It’s why I choose this career.

Three absolute must reads if you’re interested in violence, targeted violence, and terrorism. Each of these shaped my thinking and approach to this space.

Seeing many people saying they want to move to a blue state now. Friendly reminder, Illinois is blue because of Chicago. However Trump carried a huge number of precincts in the city. Most of the rest of the state tends to be red. Democrats have so much work to do to regain blue spaces.
