QUESTION: Didn't you make a film for NASA, or am I remembering that wrong? ANSWER: No; I submitted a short collage documentary to the Houston Cinema Arts Festival in 2017 that was awarded a prize sponsored by NASA, who decided to screen it for the astronauts on the International Space Station. Apparently one of them cried. Since then, it's had a weird life of its own at film festivals I invariably can't attend. I put it together in a month from NASA's archives so I could learn a new editing software, and it's one of the best things I've ever made. That's just how it goes sometimes. QUESTION: Did somebody really ask that last question? ANSWER: No. I just try to work it into every conversation. Richard Linklater was the judge, too.

I'd link them here but with the industry being what it is (bad) I don't know if those photographers will have retrained as pilates instructors by the time you read this. Email me. My friend, who is smarter than I am, has suggested that I add a page to my website for people who are interested in commissioning me.

One time someone wanted to hire me for an engagement shoot in a boxing ring, where the wife-to-be and the groom's ex-girlfriend would beat the living dog shit out of each other in a pair of themed costumes while the groom referreed. Now, look, I know what you're thinking: it sounds like these two women were great friends, and this sounds like a fun idea for a photoshoot. Something to commemorate the unconventional relationship between these three people. It turned out that they didn't even know each other. It felt like I was being hired as an accessory to something. If anybody asks about it, I didn't tell you this story. If the cops come to your door you keep your mouth shut, you hear me? Don't talk to the fucking cops. This isn't even about me any more. This is just advice." They can't come into your place without a warrant. If they don't have a good reason, tell 'em to kick rocks.
