"Whackos." Whackos just like my father and uncle who pledged their lives in WWII to save democracy and fundamental rights across the world.

I was a kid protesting when Nixon sped down 4th Ave in a limo to meet WWII's Hirohito at Elmendorf- first time in 1000 years an Emperor had left Japan.

Not Paris, not New York. Anchorage. Imagine Nixon: "Welcome to Ameirca, your highness, let me present of our older Air Force hangers. "

In Alaska, Putin will be exposed to an arrest warrant by the Int. Criminal Court for a long, grisly list of war crimes. I'd think any Alaska cop could enforce it.

They'd be a hero to the world, and a bit of justice too for the historical slaughters by Tzarist Russia of Native Alaskans.

Dresden was horrific, Vonnegut will tell you that- but the situations were vastly different. Dresden was part of the massive Nazi military system grinding up human beings. The whole Allied bombing campaign liberated Europe from Nazi control and ended the Holocaust. Comparing them is sociopathic.

Remember to thank Alaska's entire congressional delegation for this ongoing disaster to Alaskas children. Remember that Begich, Sullivan and Murkowski all chose this, big oil, big money, over the people of Alaska.

I"ll say professionally that this is unusually good. I can't emphasize enough that the mood and feeling of the sea is paramount in subjects like this. To be outstanding, the water must feel wet, the air cold, you must paint sounds and senses far beyond straightforward visual fidelity.

"It was lashed to the sleigh, and it seemed to say:
'You may tax your brawn and brains,
But you promised true, and it's up to you to cremate those last remains.'"

It's not ambigious- Alaskans who did not need to die will die, and in the meantime become debilitating financial burdens on their loved ones.

Fun fact: In the 1950s, my dad owned and heavily renovated what became Ted Stevens's log home on 11th. He would have hated that.

I sometimes describe dad as "The Beatnik scientist of the Last Frontier"
