I’m truly humbled by everyone who’s encouraged me to stand.

Right now, our country needs strong voices fighting for equality and human rights - I can make the most difference by doing that as Chair of the Women and Equalities Committee and as MP for Luton North

Angela’s life embodies the Labour movement.

She has made monumental changes for working people, from strengthening workers’ rights to building council housing. This work needs to continue.

We were founded to represent working people, that is what our Labour Party must do.

I’m incredibly sad to see my friend Angela Rayner leave government.

We can’t now risk losing touch with who we are and who our party was founded to serve.

Whatever comes next, the Labour Party must speak to, deliver for and unite the country.

That’s what people asked us to do last year.

Today the Women and Equalities Committee is holding an inquiry on statutory miscarriage bereavement leave.

It was good to speak to Nuala McGovern on BBC Woman's Hour this morning about this sensitive but crucially important issue.

The Committee is live on Parliamentlive.tv at 2:20pm

Until now, the consensus on X has been that it is a necessary evil for anyone in politics.

But I know my presence on X no longer benefits my role or the people I seek to serve.

So I have left, for good.

I’m seeing more people from different political camps on here and other platforms now.

Which is great.

As I said to @zoecrowther.bsky.social, this shouldn’t be an echo chamber, we need to have good arguments, not foul ones. www.politicshome.com/news/article...
