I think bridges will be mended once the Trump regime is ousted but there will also be long term consequences as many countries around the world seek to make their tech stack and defence more independent of the US.

Daft to rely in future on a country that has manifestly failed to reign in Trump.

The tech-bro oligarchs will rue the day they supported Trump.

In 10 years time there will be post mortem of how America threw its tech industry dominance away in a fit of hubris with Europe, India and South America all moving to their own sovereign tech stacks.

Would that be a little bit of schadenfreude I detect?

USA is doing huge damage to its reputation and is no longer a stable reliable economic and defense partner.

In 10 years time there will be post mortem of how America threw its dominance away resulting in Europe, India and South America all moving to sovereign tech stacks and defense procurement.

Even worse, the USA is no longer a stable reliable economic partner.

In 10 years time there will be post mortem of how America threw its tech industry dominance away resulting in Europe, India and South America all moving to their own sovereign tech stacks.

Delusional share price still for a company that is increasingly shunned in Europe for owner's political allegiance and China with better options domestically. Add in half the American public boycotting them due to the owner too.

I wouldn't be surprised if they go bust within 5 years.

Makes a change from int overflow.

“787 airplane that has been powered continuously for 248 days can lose all alternating current (AC) electrical power due to the generator control units (GCUs) simultaneously going into failsafe mode”

Boeing 787 Dreamliners contain a potentially catastrophic software bug
Beware of integer overflow-like bug in aircraft's electrical system, FAA warns.

Stablecoins are idiotic tech bro hype.

What is the point of a distributed database that has scaling issues “blockchain” to avoid a centralised authority when the assets on it are underwritten by a centralised authority. Just use a normal database in that central authority - aka a “bank”.

Which is a great argument for public service broadcasting like we have here in the U.K. and in much of Europe.

Sober and informative reporting that doesn’t need to chase clicks with sensationalism.

"neither confirm nor deny" do they think they are MI6 or something? What nonsense.

It's going to matter to quite a few US firms when they realise that business is drying up because whether or not Trump is at the helm, this is a lesson not to be dependant on the USA in future.

Europe among others will push defence and digital sovereignty. Adios American Big Tech.
January 11, 2026 at 2:28 PM
Even if Trump goes, and a conventional administration is voted in, many allies will still push for defence independence, digital sovereignty, & financial sector control.

End result of Trumpism will be to leave USA weaker & poorer as other countries shun American corporate dependance in key sectors.
January 11, 2026 at 11:32 AM
The outcome of Trumpism is massive nuclear proliferation.

American wasn't offering the nuclear umbrella and NATO commitments out of altruism but to stop proliferation and retain its dominant military position.

Allies that no longer trust the USA's security guarantees will take action to mitigate.

Here's my advice on how to handle the problem. Don't travel to countries with an authoritarian government and terrible human rights record. Plenty of nicer places to visit.

To be fair cars are now just electronic spyware boxs on wheels, so it makes sense if one is made by the manufacturer of the electronic spyware box that fits in your pocket.

"National Security" is usually invoked when the government want to cover-up and avoid accountabiliy.

Only very rarely is it actually about national security.

If Starmer had been around in the 1930's he'd have been ordering aircraft engines from Junkers.

The Trillion $ Tesla scam makes the Bernie Madoff scam look almost quaint.

Tesla will be bankrupt within 5 years. Their brand is toxic and even those not worried about Musk’s shitty views will be wary of buying a car that devalues like a lead balloon.

Good on both mac and linux. For just sending others documents attached to an email I find exporting as PDF a good option as everything can read them.

Don't know why anyone pays a subscription to MS office, unless they really need group editing.
