Urbanist, bicyclist for transport, enby, parent to two kiddos. I’m a thrill-seeker - when those thrills come from completing a project.
It being #BuyNothingDay and all, I didn’t expect to see anyone while biking to and from my pet-sitting duties, so didn’t sweat the mash of pattern and color that my layered ‘fit was becoming. I ended up loving it though, and had to pause to document and share, so that you may bear witness.

I’m on my third copy of #LifeAfterCars - I keep giving/lending the book out. First to a friend’s kid who is a big @thewaroncars.bsky.social fan and then to my city council member (the right hands!) who had heard of the podcast already. This copy is all mine! …for now.

I love how Muffin is experimenting with a goth phase, courtesy of being the “granddaughter” to a #bikeParent.

Pretty penny, well spent (I have it on good authority).

Review: Caydence Records & Coffee, Payne Avenue, St. Paul.

D

How hipster is this shop; yet the best parking for your custom fixie is a gas meter out of sight of the cafe windows? (There’s also a parking sign around the corner, so close room for three bikes total.)

@ibikedinthis.bsky.social IDK if you inspired me to wear this while biking, but you definitely inspired me to document it. As you can see, I threw on a wool sweater after the show and swapped shoes for the bulk of the ride (the main photo is after biking the three blocks from the restaurant).

Hey #SaintPaul! We #vote today. I went with:
yes, yes; Dullinger, Carter, Chen, Her. …and my neighbor, Nikki.

Urban Growler, St. Paul.
B+
Plenty of well spaced n-racks. Could be more. Could have non-weedy plants below.

We have to get the word out about all this bike parking - you don’t need to come in your #Cybertruck!

I biked two blocks over to my local train depot and picked this gem up from the independent bookshop therein. It was a good place to imagine a #LifeAfterCars.

Ominous! I’m hoping this is just a lost in translation moment and not the first of my death knells.

I’ve been furiously sewing this custom witch’s hat for my costume and now that it’s done on time, I’d love to know if folks can guess what my costume’s title is.

Hints:
1. I wear dresses pretty much all the time, the fact of the dress is irrelevant.
2. You pretty much need to be local to MSP.

And a scare-piece about the dangers of e-bikes as the top headline?! 😤

Pioneer Press FTW!

If I voted based on font and graphic design, the NIMBY Kaohly Her would have my enthusiastic support for St Paul mayor.

@tcbikeparking.bsky.social Grainger #499 on Plato Blvd in St Paul. B-? A+?

You can lock to the handicap signs outside and feel quite secure about it (B-) or you can roll right in through the automatic door for easy loading, and no one will bat an eye (A+).

Another way to tell that #GenX is now in #retirement age: MN Aging Pathways offered this extra-long shoehorn, the kind with teeth.

I spotted Lime scooter 0001 yesterday. “Now that’s a piece of history right there!” I thought; only to stumble upon 0011 a few minutes later. I started to wonder if they were numbered in binary, but just for funzies.

Surely there were more efficient ways of locating this mural than mine - call up a map of the Chroma Zone and hit as many numbers on it until one rings a bell - but none better.

@tcbikeparking.bsky.social Merriam Park Public Library (SPPL). Grade: A. Separated from the street, space for bikes on either side of your own, enough of it, well trafficked. I’m even tempted to give it a “+” for the e-bait-bike that’s locked by cable, but that feels cruel.

Apparently, door F is the place to lock. Upgrading to D+

Hmong Villiage. Rating: D

No bike racks that I could find. This rickety stop sign on the landscaping rock was a poor substitute. At least there was space to park and a solid bike trail connection close by.

It was a long ten seconds before I realized that it wasn’t the same rack.

People - hug your bikes and let them know you love them. Also, be sure to register them with something like #BikeIndex. #bikeLove

I came out from my literal five minute blood draw appointment to this and my heart sank. My beloved Scott bike was finally taken. #bikeSky #bikeTheft
