Does anyone think Trump is paying any attention to Taiwan while it is surrounded by PRC forces who are pegging missiles and causing all the international flights to be delayed or cancelled

My buddies and I got free tickets from KMET to see The Harder They Come at some art house in Westwood when it came out. Totally changed us. We went around for days faking Jamaican accents. Bought the vinyl soundtrack and played it to death (Pressure Drop!) Sad

Our Spanish tour guides accentuate the positive aspects of the 700 years of tolerant Muslim rule in Spain and its many contributions, often contrasting it with the forced Catholization that followed it.

Yesterday, on Indigenous Peoples Day, we saw the (alleged) tomb of Christopher Columbus. The Spanish seem to view their history as history, not to be debated and overcome and not to be used as justification for cheap nationalism. Things that happened in another time.

Some might argue golf, in the US particularly, has always been a sport for white conservatives, but it’s hard to remember galleries calling opposing players “faggots” and openly deriding their wives until recently. What could have changed?

US fan ugliness at the Ryder Cup was merely a reflection of Trump’s all-caps America — Guardian US
European players were subjected to slurs and crude insults about their families. They were no surprise as public discourse in America has broken down

Lots of peeps in line for the Covid booster on day one

First it was Social Security emails used as propaganda, now it’s the smiling puss of Dr. Oz on Medicare emails. I just unsubscribed.

So this morning I read my emails, and one of the neighbors posted on our street’s group email complaining that the Mexican hot dog vendors were working the parade. Why? People with ambition working hard to make a buck. Why do you care and how in the world does this hurt you? 3/3

Also had my favorites, the Sikh motorcyclists who ride in the parade every year! 2/3

Yesterday was our annual July 4 parade in Alameda, CA, the pleasantest of pleasant places. Highlights: this entry from the USS Hornet aircraft carrier with a “Defend the Constitution” flag. The first group marching was a large Pride contingent. Also had Mexican cowboys, Filipinos, Koreans. 1/3

2/2 No mention of whether these strikes were legal or of the civilian casualties involved in these bombings, or of the Israeli tactic (see Gaza) of leveling an entire structure if one “bad guy” is in that structure.
What if Iran bombed the home of a general in Virginia? Military tactic?
June 25, 2025 at 3:06 PM
was listening to a Politico «analysis” of the situation on NPR, and of course, there was no perspective of the events from the Iranian side, or the rational, objective side. So the repeated line was that Israel bombed “military” sites when they bombed the homes of generals and scientists. 1/2.

4 things upsetting me now: news media cheerleading the Iran strike with déjà-vu of 1992, 2003.
Democrat reps supporting the Iran strike.
Huge financial support and endorsements for Cuomo.
European governments kowtowing to Trump on Iran.

We need new politics and leadership all around.

Democrats ALL have to make speeches pointing out that Trump’s pardons of the January 6 violent criminals led directly to the assignations in Minnesota.

This is something to think about when Trump says protesters are paid.
