Using new data, I disaggregate 53 CN and 50 RU cases from 2000-23 to look at ~300 separate sanctions, examining 6 mechanisms of implementation and their dynamics. doi.org/10.1093/jogs...

Yesterday, Germany decided to increase borrowing to fund defence. In my paper on borrowing, I argue this approach is wrongheaded for intergenerational justice. TDLR: young and future generations will have much to handle, given climate change and rising authoritarianism—this is unfair on them.
