Seems we might be close to unlocking the fusion power plant. Brings back some fond SimCity memories.

Finished the trip off with some geothermal energy at Lassen Volcanic National Park. Obviously this exact site has not been tapped for electricity, maybe someday it will outside the park

Closing out the summer showing the kids more energy infrastructure. Today it's Shasta Dam. The art deco design elements are a great touch

Productive morning. These kids don't know how good they have it

Yesterday was another great day to be on the water.

This is what happens when it's a mild summer and you drive your kids to summer camp all the time. Recent average efficiency has been 5-5.2 miles/kWh so the car thinks it can deliver 312 miles of range at that rate. I'm going to be doing mostly highways today so likely not

Our family loves eating cereal and I've been trying to avoid buying cows milk. 3 out of 4 of us are fine with Costco Oat milk. The picky kid refused so I went on the hunt for alternatives. Walmart now offers this refrigerated soy milk with a solid 2 month expiration date and she loved it.

Finished it. Other than a random reference to vertical farms in the very beginning, I think the book is solid. Honestly think it should be required reading for anyone seeking office

This weekend our family went to a biking class put on by the city. Included bike check, helmet fitting guidelines, how to signal, how to safely interact with cars and the best bike paths in our neighborhood. This should be mandatory for lawmakers and all drivers so they can experience being a biker

Need that continent wide HVDC grid, CA putting 4 GW in batteries and exporting another 4 GW
June 24, 2025 at 9:35 PM
Warm weather + CA traffic= 3.2 miles/kWh in an extended range Ford Lightning. No elevation change

I saved this chart from an earlier version of Boston Metal's website. Clearly its heavily dependent on electricity price and its also possible some things have changed in the years since this was made

And I was wrong. Still great news though

Going to be 90 in Sacramento today but the whole house fan is doing its part to minimize AC usage. This morning it got down to 57 degrees outside and the fan cooled the house down to 66

If you want to know the power of modern batteries look no further than these tire inflators. I used to lug around a big/loud/corded air compressor for this job. This morning I added 3 psi to three tires and it's still at 75% SOC. $47 and it's an emergency power bank and flashlight

I guess one positive of Elon driving away talent from Tesla is they go off and do their own cool projects

First raspberry harvest of the season.

It's a sourdough English muffin morning. I'm not great at cooking so I try to make up for it by supplying the household baked products

Love it. Samsung has a pretty good app for their HP dryer too. This is the load my wife did earlier today
