Elves are smug? No they aren't. They don't show off their superiority, they are just superior, like we'd be among most animals.

"Did you [...] bring a tiny violin to a knife fight?"

- #TaylorSwift, clearly indicating that one of the duelists is a bard -

There's a losing end to society. We all know that. Yet some people hate the folks on the losing end for... not being nice? Don't they have plenty of reasons to be mad?

Tama: Help me Luffy, I'm starving
Luffy: Don't worry Tama, we'll stage a coup

New Fish-Man Pirates: We live in ghettos in our own kingdom and demonized in the surface so we're taking over
Luffy: Guys, you can't just take down the monarchy

Love both arcs, just having some fun :3

"Luffy isn't a hero", or "Luffy doesn't care about politics" is the main argument I see for "One Piece is not political".

But not taking a political stance, is a political stance. Luffy wants a world where he's free to fulfill his ambitions, AND where no one needs to suffer.

The US government wants oil for its patrons/owners. Everything else is just an excuse. They give 0 craps about people and their lives.

The rest of the world can do nothing about this, except transition to safe, renewable, and accessible energies. Frustrating.

All the best for Venezuela.

Started #Kaiju8 (ep 1). I predict:
- Plot: Why can't I have cool dangerous job instead of dangerous maintenance job?
- Plot twist: Kaijus are clearly not the real enemy. They are man-made like climate change, and we should tackle their cause, not clean after them

No spoilers pls, just hot-cold.

We have a pretty good astronomical measure of when the year could start. It's not today.

Pedantry aside, happy new year 🥳

Is #OnePiece pro-monarchy? The Straw Hats take down authoritarian regimes and help establish nice ones. But they often trade one royal family for another.

"Any form of government is good as long as it is just."

One Piece is pro self-determination, not pro monarchy.

Tools for dynamic writing? As in, I change a story beat, act, arc, plot point, and a reference to it gets updated automatically, etc.

Currently using relational databases like @Notion, who should in all honesty sponsor me, but looking for alternatives.

@Fiverr is such rubbish. Got spammed with scammers as soon as I joined.

@Upwork's "connects" currency system is rubbish.

Any good alternatives (particularly for writers)?

In Avatar, humanity has become an interplanetary civilization.

Yet we haven't achieved sustainable development.

A bleak prediction. By then, we should be able to harness all the energy from stars, and resources from uninhabited celestial bodies.

Berserk nativity scene with Griffith being born from the Egg of the Perfect World. Barn animals are the Apostles, the Magi are the God Hand.

Wife depends on medication to survive. Not one day without it and she will die.

Gov doesn't care. Private will charge exorbitantly. We need laws for the people.

I too was tempted by this power. But those who revere power merely lack it.

If watching Avatar made you think: "Wow, humanity sucks", it's okay. The text is not brave enough to say this out loud. It only hints at it, but here it goes. It should be pretty clear that humanity is not the villain, and who really is.

Everything the RDA does on Pandora has been historically done by humans.

Oops, did I say humans? I meant colonizers. Humans lived much like the Na'vi for most of their history.

The RDA are ethnically very homogenous. This is intended of course.

Things Avatar says:

- Colonialism is wrong: Don't steal from people.
- Pacifism is wrong: You should fight oppressors.
- Speciesism is wrong: Don't kill living beings.
- The military serve the rich.
- The rich manipulate the masses into supporting them.

"Humanity is flawed" is the politics of weak. They see no way out of their misery but to screw the rest. They justify their cowardice with undeserved authority.

But humans are strong. We do not cause, or abide, suffering. We leave no one behind.

"Immigrants are fine because we need people to do all the shit jobs! If you can't compete with that, you should upgrade your skills!"

This is not the humanitarian flex you think it is.

Job application: "Do people see you as the 'life of the party'?"
Me: "Well, they'd be pretty much dead without my tanking or healing, so..."

Isekai is so done as a genre. I mostly avoid it nowadays.

But my interest is piqued if it isn't about some boy who's OP.

Toying with the idea of MC being a guy who finds out they were an egg all their past life.

Bands whose lyrics speak about liberation / self-improvement of different kinds? Political, spiritual, natural, physical, epic, scientific, all those work. Bonus if they're all-female or female-led.
