Any microphone geeks on bluesky? I’ve been an audio engineer since 2000, I’ve worked with a few different microphones in that time, and I would love to talk microphones with anyone!
Also 500 series modules, preamps, and equalizers.
Silver Rank Brewer of Hawkin‘s Magic Beers is almost completely recorded. #audiobooks #author #narrator #CadD89 #Microphone #LocalLibrary

Had another audiobook go live last week, which I’d narrated on the ubiquitous Shure SM7B. Behind the C414 XLII, this is my second most used microphone. It’s a lovely and misunderstood microphone, and I can’t wait to use it again one day. For now, I’m on the CAD D89.

I’ve recorded audiobooks on a ton of different microphones already. I’ve got two in the works now using the CAD D89. Silver Rank Brewer of Hawkin’s Magic Beers is one of those two. This mic sounds incredible!

FYI: Book 1 was performed on the C414 XLII.

The AKG D190e in champagne. A gorgeous vintage microphone which I’ve recently picked up. I had wanted to use it on one of my Grab a Goblin books, but its unfortunately beyond repair at the moment. #audiobook #microphone

This was my first Agatha Christie read from a book which I picked up from my parents’ collection about a decade ago. Well, I’ve finally gotten to sit on it, and I’m surprised how much I’ve loved this one—her writing too. I haven’t been one for mystery up until now. What a delight!

My Big Goblin Space Program by ScottWarren (RR handle). Ah, what a fantastic story! The tribe, the system—just some of the most amusing mechanics I’ve come across.

Goblin Teeth by Jim_Quill. Ah, what an amusing read. The mechanics and the system were intriguing, and I can’t help but want more. Quite the cast, which makes me crave more party dynamics in my future reads.

The new series I’m writing, which I’ve had planned since 2020, is finally underway! Series title is called Grab a Goblin, and each book features a different goblin from the world of Hawkin’s Magic Beers! Ah, finally!

This was my 2nd manga read, and it’s probably my favorite series right now. Excellent story-telling!

Ah, I finally finished reading book 1! This was an absolute delight to read, and I adored the relationship between Saeter and Blacknail. ClearMadness truly understands the goblin in and out. This series has a place in my heart.

Just finished reading Orc and the Last Born by Cornelius Clem on Royal Road. One of the most well written fantasy novels I’ve ever read. Being one who adores orcs and goblins, this was a tremendous joy to read. Highly recommend.

From #NAMM2025 the SSL18 sounds amazing, Dpa mics have got their microlock, and practically every merchant is focused on dolby atmos. There’s still a lot to see. Thank you, GCPro for the coverage.

I’m missing NAMM 2025, and I really wanted to go. Anyone run into anything cool there? Any neat microphones?

5 chapters left. This book will be clocking in at 275,000 words.

Then I’ve gotta catch up on audiobooks I’ve got lined up to produce.

Somewhere in all that, I still have to record the audiobooks for books 2 and 3.

I can’t believe I’m 18 chapters from finishing this last book. I’ve been writing it for more than a year as part of a series I started publishing in 2020. Five years of my life.
