If there is a substantive critique of the Prime Directive (esp. how it's understood from TNG onwards) to be made, it's the assumption that colonialism "just happens" when "advanced" and "primitive" cultures interact, as opposed to being a particular set of policies.

I can only speak for myself, but understanding how LLMs actually work was the main thing that inoculated me against AI hype.
