Promising Development: The Future of Aid in an Uncertain World. A brilliant new @thefabians.bsky.social pamphlet launch and talk. While it can feel like Britain and the world is turning inward we must not forget that we are interconnected and have a major role to play in international development.

@coopparty.party.coop Conference was a blast! Great to hear from our leading Labour and Co-operative MPs and our Gen Sec Joe Fortune. The Co-operative Party and Cooperative movement are making a tangible difference to the lives of #communities up and down the country! And there is still more to do!

#London @coopparty.party.coop Council meeting tonight. Good to hear about the hard work of our Labour & Co-operative London Assembly members during @annebclarke.bsky.social' GLA Report. @ianadderley.bsky.social gave a thoughtful overview of his book Co-operatives: Linking Practice and Theory!

Yesterday's Full Council meeting in #Newham. I spoke up for our community centres in #CustomHouse and their ability to bring people together, to foster community discussions and events. My question can be viewed here - www.youtube.com/live/Mdov7NA... - at 50:58 on the recording.

A busy Custom House resident surgery today, with back to back cases from residents involving Housing and Parking. Residents can also take part in The Big Vote and vote for their favoured community projects in #CustomHouse & #CanningTown. #Newham

Monday was a good day! It's not a regular occurrence going to 10 Downing Street to speak with the Prime Minister's Special Advisor. So had to make the most of it. A productive meeting for our stakeholders, and all part of the political engagement process.

This is what @labouruk.bsky.social's Renters' Rights Act means for renters in #Newham.

A promise made and a promise delivered.

This afternoon in #CustomHouse with the Mayor Rohksana Fiaz and officers discussing ways to involve residents in the regeneration underway in the Ward, tackle ASB and support our diverse community. Plans are in the works. Good to see the bins are empty, these are the basics. #Newham

An Evening with @andyburnham.bsky.social and @metromayorsteve.bsky.social was full of heartfelt stories of tragedy, uplifting takes on urban revival and plenty of jokes. Both made the case for devolution, showing what a success 'placed based' politics can be. And I got a signed copy of their book!

Congratulations to my colleague and friend Cllr Imam Haque and his wife for her grand opening of her restaurant Zaykati. The start of big things; celebrated with councillors and East Ham MP Sir Stephen Timms.

Just finished my #CustomHouse resident surgery. Good to see a lively children's group in the library and speak with residents about their concerns, now logged for further action. I had a nice stroll through #CundyPark enjoying the autumnal season 🍂 🍁

A night full of knowledge at the Improving #Black Health at London City Hall. All the speakers were excellent and full of insight. It was a real privilege to hear from @profkevinfenton.bsky.social about #London's health challenges and the solutions. Well done Cllr Thelma Odoi for organising.

A wonderful evening last night at the Mayor of London's Black History Month Reception. Amazing performances and compelling panel discussion. It was reassuring to hear @london.gov.uk reaffirm his support for London's Black community, challenge divisive rhetoric and talk up our great city!

Today was my resident surgery in #CustomHouse Library. Good to speak with our friendly PCSO, who gave a brilliant safety talk to children. Two housing cases to escalate for further action. An array of gold books for #BlackHistoryMonth on display 📚. #Newham

I was delighted to attend Your Place UK's World Homeless Day reception at the House of Lords. A charity rooted in #Newham and committed to helping those who are homeless. Opening remarks by the Chair of Trustees, speeches from those helped by the charity, and the CEO. A secure home is a right.

Tonight at #Newham's Full Council meeting. I spoke up for the people of #CustomHouse who want housing, jobs and skills. Our Growth Plan should involve residents; especially those in the south of the borough who do not always feel meaningfully consulted about what is right for them and their area.

A great way to spend Tuesday morning at the UK Black in Gov (CIC) panel discussing the burden of visibility with other panellists.
I enjoyed sharing highlights about my career, and hearing the contributions from the other speakers. Even more symbolic we do this during #BlackHistoryMonth. #BHM
