An afternoon discussing strategic direction with the whole leadership team. Interesting conversation on the balance between accessibility/visibility of senior leaders and independence of teams to be empowered and led by their team leader - no conclusion but important thing is that it’s discussed!

Great to tour the improved mental health facilities in NCL, particularly MHCAS at Highgate - what a fantastic step forward in proportionately looking after the community’s MH in an accessible and proportionate way. Now to maximise access and awareness for LAS in #TeamNCL

Potentially the last year of true Christmas magic for the girls this year so the elves are back out… harder than it looks to dream up 24 small scale quests for them!

Flats above my barber appear to have burnt down. Inconvenient for me but devastating for residents & small businesses in the run up to Christmas. Thanks to those who responded, must have been complex, fire at 4am but @londonfire.bsky.social still there with a TL

A cross the leadership spectrum today; morning with our most senior leadership team talking about making a difference to 9m Londoners, then afternoon leading 80 first line managers in a masterclass for about driving high standards in their teams, making a difference to one person at a time

Super busy with particularly rare levels of 999 call volumes - working hard to get ambulances to those who need them but please help us out
✅ Check in on relatives and friends who may need help
✅ Get your flu jab
✅ Stay on top of regular meds
✅ Use NHS111 online for advice

On Monday, 26.11, we attended the most Category 1 patients in #London (life-threatening emergencies) ever at almost 600 people.

We’ve taken extra steps to maximise the number of staff we have responding to emergencies. You can help us save lives by using 999 wisely.

Trying to get ahead of the mince pies - up early and at the gym before the work week begins. First time in three months 😬 and I felt it!

With Storm Bert expecting to provide a mild drenching in London, it’s a good opportunity to check your own flood risk at home, and prepare - plenty of help available online. Surface water flooding is the main risk to people in London

Went to see #Wicked 🧹with the family tonight at the cinema - what a brilliant film! Completely blown away by the coverage of such complex themes, the visuals, the music - definitely worth a watch

(I’d never seen the musical, only seen about three massacres of “Defying Gravity” at drag shows 😂)

Fantastic example of strategic national resilience effort, very topical given the week’s activities and a story I had never encountered before - well worth a read
In WW2, the British government mobilized to create a global, distributed logistics chain aimed solely at keeping Britain supplied with one resource.

Flagged as a critical war effort, at times it carried a shipping priority higher than munitions.

That resource was Tea. 🧵 /1

Really engaging & insightful day talking about some gnarly bits of strategic command - recovery, DVI and the legal bits. Some callback to MSc papers

MAGIC course may be done but the learning and journey has only just begun

This is a really insightful and important report. Capital investment in both buildings and vehicles is critical for ambulance services
Unlocking productivity through the ambulance estates

As Ant Tucker explains, deterioration of ambulance facilities is a problem. Yet where there has been investment, it has allowed more ambulances to spend more time responding to calls

Fantastic day of exercising strategic command skills today in the #Hydra suite. Working with partners unpicking gnarly issues and sharing knowledge to reduce harm and save lives nailing #JESIP throughout. Particularly enjoyed my brief but effective stint as a journalist…

This came up on my Facebook feed today as a “memory” from 2023. A good point to look back over the last year and not thank the book or the author but to reflect on all those leaders who inspired, guided, persisted, and helped round the sharp edges - here’s to them

Great session today from Dr Anne Eyre on human aspects of incident response - really thought provoking around how to sensitively navigate the layers of support a community may need to recover to new normal, and our role to play
