It’s been a pleasure working with Lex and everyone in the politics vertical at Teen Vogue. I’m heartbroken that my column, Disability Visibility, is gone. Teen Vogue was one of the few places that published disabled journalists regularly. I just spent the last 2 months working on my next column
I was laid off from Teen Vogue today along with multiple other staffers, and today is my last day.

certainly more to come from me when the dust has settled more, but to my knowledge, after today, there will be no politics staffers at Teen Vogue.

Love reading these updates from Broadview. Brings me back to the Nostalgia of the first Trump term and closely following cases thinking, "This is it! We got em!" and then they get off with nary a furrowed brow.
Now in the courtroom of District Judge Sara Ellis in Chicago for the start of a scheduled status hearing in the class action accusing federal immigration agents of abusing press, clergy and the public in the Chicago area.

Ellis entered an injunction order limiting feds' use of force last week.
Ellis sets a status hearing for 3 pm next Thursday, Nov. 13.

More issues to be covered then, including how to handle possible court order violations plaintiffs have already raised.

Visiting my hometown is always fun to read the news.

“At around 3:12 p.m., an officer located Foust near the Mississippi River, where he fled officers by swimming downstream.”

This post inspired me to write a Typst-based alternative to @derrickreimer.com's OG-Image that you can deploy together with your Phoenix app.

So, introducing: OGI!

Just ordered a projector bulb replacement from an commerce shop. The personal email letting me know my item shipped was delightful.

Maybe the “Amazon Killer” is a distributed mastadon style e-commerce platform? 🤔

NEW: The U.S. Congressional Budget Office was hacked.

@doublepulsar.com found that the cause may be an unpatched Cisco ASA firewall. I asked CBO about that but it did not respond to the question.

As a hearing impaired person, I commonly mispronounce words I had read but not heard.

For years I pronounced "Morale" as "More Ale" and I am convinced it's the rest of the world that is wrong!

Our dog accidentally got loose while my wife and I were at lunch, he’s so well trained he just laid in front of the front door and waited for us for half an hour 😆

Nah, we need to hear more about what 72 year old retirees sitting in a diner in Perry, MOanthink about national politics.
To recap, among young voters…

Prop 50: +58
Sherril: +37
Spanberger: +40
Mamdani: +61

I better see the media start retracting some of those stories saying Gen Z is the most conservative generation.

A conservative friend called him “Temu Obama” and I have to admit it tracks. Sometimes he gives a speech that sounds profound, but this far he’s been all hat and no cattle when it comes to championing progressive values!
Hakeem Jeffries says Zohran Mamdani is not the future of the Democratic Party.

No way the UK's tax authority (HMRC) was running their operations off of a US data center

... but they were!

AWS us-east-1 outage knocked them offline, and exposed relying on US infra to serve the British public

Ironic from a government with ample home grown DCs + talent

Been playing Pokemon on Fridays at a local card shop with my son, on my third visit one of the players asked me if I used Hugo for my blog and to be honest I felt weird that my online life was exposed.

I mean it’s cool, but it did surprise me. 😅
