Comic and horror movie nerd.
Maybe it's just me. Maybe I'm just tuning in to what was already there. Whatever the case, I liked this issue a lot. I particularly enjoyed a confrontation between Batman and Riddler that had a slightly different dynamic than I've seen between them before.

Or Len Wein. Old school comic pros who you could put on any title and they'd give you a great run, steeped in continuity and characterization. I would be surprised if MacKay wasn't going to be passing the Avengers baton to Chip Zdarsky soon but MacKay has done damn well by Earth's Mightiest Heroes.

Every team member makes specific contributions in the battle against Kang that highlight each of their individual skill sets. And there's pay offs to long running plot points that land perfectly. MacKay makes it all look easy but it's rare to be this good. He's in the mold of guys like Roger Stern.

My one complaint is I'd like an explanation for how Peter ended up in the ass end of space beyond "Hellgate punched him there." Whether it was a wormhole, time/space portal, or whatever comic booky way they want to go with it. I just need a few details filled in. Other than that, this run's a joy.

I understand the nostalgia for Johnny Cage, I was a '70s kid, but Danny Ketch ruled. Texeira gave the Ketch GR such a vibe.

I think this was just a dud October for movies, period. I don't think there's much more to it than that. If like WICKED 2 or ZOOTOPIA 2 don't do well, that'd be something else but that, you know, the Springsteen bio didn't do big business isn't hard to figure.
