Marvel house ad for all the various Spidey excitement happening in '96! For all the faults of the Clone Saga, a lot of new fans were minted in this era.

An unexpected choice for the new DD creative team, but a promising one. I might've preferred Erica Schultz on DD but I like Phillips a lot too. And let's face it: anything is going to be an improvement on the Saladin Ahmed run. aiptcomics.com/2025/11/14/m...

I sympathize with the outrage, but holding the line was never going to result in Republicans agreeing to extend the ACA subsidies. Best result of holding out was to force R's to nuke the filibuster and have them have to 100% own this without Dem votes. That's it. ACA was always going to be toast.
This deal to reopen the government is fucking disgraceful.

Tens of millions will lose their healthcare. Trump will be emboldened.

This is exactly what’s wrong with Democratic Party leadership and why we need more people in Congress who will actually hold the line.

Not surpringing to see Bendis doing an Avengers story in the anniversary issue. Pretty cool, but I'm just eager to know what else he's got lined up at Marvel. I hope there's an actual run in the cards and not just specials and minis. aiptcomics.com/2025/11/10/b...

Hot damn, this rocked. Balls to the wall pulp sci-fi action. A movie designed to speak to every nerd's inner twelve year old. This is the kind of movie that would've lit up my world as a Saturday matinee in the '80s. Just a glorious monster mash. Loved it. Hope Dan Trachtenberg gets to make more.

Well it took 8 issues but I can finally say that I full on enjoyed an Absolute Green Lantern issue! This is focused on Sojourner Mullein and it really does a great job of fleshing out her character and broadening our understanding of the town of Evergreen and the various players involved. Thumbs up!

Up till now, I've objectively admired the technical craft behind this run more than I've actually enjoyed it. But with this issue I felt the tide turning on that. The craft is still immaculate but it also felt like a warmer issue, with the characters having a more flesh and blood dimension to them.

Good issue, kicking off a new arc. It's giving off series finale vibes, though, with past characters coming back and old conflicts looking to get settled. I'll be sad to see this run end, if that's the case, but whaddya gonna do? That's just the way of comics. Guessing a new #1 by Bendis is coming.

One of the best runs in comics keeps rolling. Another sharp issue from Jed MacKay and co that introduces a new supervillain and, in a fight against vengeful ghosts, finds an ingenious use for Marc's multiple personalities. Domenico Carbone kills it on art. Thumbs up, too for Davide Paratore's cover.

More Avengers excellence from Jed MacKay and Farid Karami. These guys have been a stellar match on this book. Coming to the climax of the Kang storyline that's been its primary plot from the start, MacKay's skill with characterization and story structure is on full display.

Based on the killer job Jed MacKay's been doing with Cyclops in his X-Men run, I figured he'd give Scott some great moments in AOR but this issue delivered on that in ways I didn't expect. MacKay is writing peak Cyclops in this run, proving again and again why Scott leads this team. So f'ing good.

Back in space with another fun issue! Joe Kelly has quickly established an entertaining rapport between Peter and the cosmic crew he's running with. All the familiar soap opera elements of Spidey translate perfectly into this alien setting. Guest artist Emilio Laiso fills in nicely for Pepe Larraz.

Random reread: Marc Spector: Moon Knight #25, from 1991. If you wanted to sell extra issues of a Marvel comic in the early '90s, putting either The Punisher or Ghost Rider in it was the way to go. This is a fun one and done with MK and GR taking down terrorists.
November 4, 2025 at 6:42 PM
As much it's great to be able to own runs in trades, without the ads, old school comics just aren't the same reading experience. Ads in '90s comics were especially peak. Flipping through a '90s comic is like reentering a whole world that used to be, where cool shit prevailed.
November 3, 2025 at 5:47 PM
Random reread: Ghost Rider #13, from 1991. Back in the day, this was the hottest title on the stands. Howard Mackie and Mark Texeira killed it on this run.

Oh, looking like Zdarsky will become the next Avengers writer later this year! Nice, if true. Can't imagine he's writing Cap, writing an event mini centered on the Avengers and *not* cueing up a full on Avengers run for himself.
🔥 The end begins next June.

#MarvelComics just announced ARMAGEDDON, a universe-shattering event by Chip Zdarsky that will change the #Avengers forever, with threads from Captain America and Ultimate Spider-Man: Incursion already in play. 👀

Oh yeah, now we're talking! Been loving what Benjamin Percy and Julius Ohta have been cooking up with Frank, but a new ongoing with art by Jose Luis Soares is going to be sick as hell. Soares on DD was incredible. I expect he's really going to bring it on Punisher.

After an opening three part arc, Ryan North gets back to crafting one and done bangers here. This is easily one of the best FF issues North has ever done, blessed with A+ Humberto Ramos art. FF fans keep having it good these days.

Solid issue. As much as I'd like to see more of the characters established in the new UU, I think Marvel is making the right call by giving the new Ultimate era an end. I'm just curious as to what they have planned on the other side of it. You don't just pull the plug on something this big.
October 29, 2025 at 12:46 AM
That Bendis will contribute a story to Avengers #800 is practically a given. As for what new ongoing he might be writing at Marvel, I would bet against Avengers. He had a long run with that (too long!). Don't think a return is likely. I put the strongest odds on DD.

This rocked. My verdict on AOR so far is that everything that Jed MacKay is doing with it kicks ass while everything else has been kind of so-so. I def get why they wanted this to involve the whole X line, but it might've been better to just let MacKay run with it as an arc in adjectiveless X-Men.

I'm digging this mini. I thought Jason Loo did a bang up job on the pulpy horror of the recent Werewolf By Night series and he's doing right by Danny Rand here, serving up non stop kung fu action, sprawling across NYC. I imagine Fran Galan's art might not be to everyone's taste, but I'm into it.
October 26, 2025 at 6:25 PM
Outstanding finale to Jason Aaron's run on TMNT, joined in its back half by the incomparable Juan Ferreyra. I've only been a sporadic TMNT reader over the years, but this run had me locked in, esp once Ferreyra came on board. Shame it couldn't have lasted longer, but this'll be a perennial trade.

Nice set of solicits for January! I'm surprised we haven't heard about a new Daredevil creative team yet, though. This is the longest we've gone without a DD monthly since pre Marvel Knights. I imagine when we do see the team that they've got lined up, it's going to be huge.
