Dr. Jakob Burnham
@jakobburnham.bsky.social
Clinical Assistant Prof of History @ UNT. France and the Early Modern World, Indian Ocean Colonialism, Notaries, and Urban Social History.

Often professional, sometimes a silly goose ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Tomorrow—having finishing our units on NarrativeMed, HistMed, and HealthReligion&Bioethics—my Intro to Medical Humanities class is beginning our 4th unit…

Really excited to bring in a full RTTPG to tie all the learning together with some practice engagement.

We are also at the point where I buy a new water bottle and planner thinking it will fix all my problems and make me an entirely different person.

Truly the most amazing pieces of French material culture I have ever seen/possessed.

Not only are they about being a notary, which speaks volumes about French legal culture, but more specifically what child doesn’t need to know how to buy a house, write a will, or establish a corporate entity!

LITERALLY “there is nothing new about this study, nor can we even confirm the veracity.”

Did a group of consultants just stand around looking at each other asking “how can we get more men to want to take this medicine so we can sell more and perpetuate pharma-capitalism?!”

I’m going to be absolutely feral* on a beach in Maine this day. Don’t call. Don’t text.

*laying in a chair, slathered in oil, listening to an audiobook with a cooler of canned cocktails.
