I felt attacked by the first few sentences.

Although I did not find that my experiments had been done in the 1920s.

That said, a lot had been done. I should have read Brøndsted's Planarian regeneration (1969) earlier!

On the #organizer from the archives, Huxley and De Beer 1934 Experimental embryology.

Although Spemann did not cite and accredit Ethel Browne, Huxley and De Beer clearly present her work after discussing the Spemann-Mangold experiment. They interpret that Hydra has an "organiser of simple type".
