Yet another impeccable performance from Harry Maguire today.

Shoutout De Ligt, that guy is WORKING.

Fair play to Joshua Zirkzee, completely changed the game for us

We got an Amad PL hattrick before we got a Rashford PL hattrick

This Murillo performance….

Devastated that Rashford’s time at United will end - particularly this way.

He has given his life to the club, and been one of our most reliable players in our most difficult times - and he was consistently abused by his own ‘fans’ as a consequence of his application and performance level.

Amad clearly instructed to man mark Gvardiol, who is coming into midfield in build up.

Means City can bypass the first line of pressure really easily and have space down the left, but also leaving huge amounts of space for United to counter into.

Really interesting cat and mouse.

Against the backdrop of the recent ticket price hikes at United, I’d love to know how much it’s costing for Dan Ashworth to leave the club after *5 months*
December 8, 2024 at 9:17 AM
Making hundreds of staff redundant, cutting support for disabled fan groups, and raising ticket prices mid-season, to scrimp and save at every turn.

Spent £10m+ sacking ten Hag after renewing his contract, and dismissed Ashworth just months after spending multiple millions to appoint him.

Joke.

A complete and utter farce.
🚨 EXCLUSIVE: Dan Ashworth leaves Man Utd after 5 months as sporting director. 53yo’s move from Newcastle has not worked + departure agreed in meeting at Old Trafford last night; presented by #MUFC as mutual

Pretty happy with that first half - been a while since I’ve seen a United side successfully make things difficult and frustrating for a top quality side.

Clearly need a bit more incision when we have the ball.

Might be stating the obvious, but think Odegaard is going to cause some serious problems tonight.

Wide CBs struggled to control the half spaces so far under RA and looks like Maguire is in line for a first start under the new manager.

Big game needed from all if we are to get anything out of it.

3 goals in Amorim’s first 3 games for Rashford.

Also, 2 for Hojlund, 2 for Zirkzee, and 1 for Garnacho.

Put your best goal-scorers in positions to score goals, and don’t be surprised when they score goals.
Great thread building on a great deep-dive here.

Expect Rashford to return to a more central position under Amorim, where he can get shots away more effectively and combine with ‘enablers’ like Bruno and Shaw (or a different LWB) more easily.

Should get back to his best!
3 reasons why Marcus Rashford is a good fit for Amorim's tactics🧵

Most of the debate I've gotten on my below article on Amorim's potential Man Utd system is about rating Rashford as a great fit for LAM & good fit for CF. I'd like to explain a bit more on why I stand by that.

Robbie Savage may have only just noticed (confirmation bias is a wonderful thing), but United have been defending out of a 442 this entire game, and did so against Ipswich as well.

Seems to be a lot of assumption that it will be Bruno alongside Ugarte with Mount in the front three - I have a feeling it might be the other way around.

Tuanzebe giving Garnacho the same treatment he gave Mbappe all those years ago.

England’s long-term replacement for Harry Kane is not Ollie Watkins.

It’s Liam Delap.
November 24, 2024 at 5:45 PM
Hutchinson keeps dropping deep to receive the ball and provide an option for Ipswich to play through the press.

Evans clearly been instructed to stick tight and follow him in, and is really struggling.
November 24, 2024 at 5:01 PM
For me, most exciting thing about Amorim so far is the focus on delivering simple and clear instructions to players and backing it up publicly.

Already spoken about our need to improve ball retention and defensive recovery - both of which you can see him working on in his first training session.

FIFA hosting consecutive World Cups in Russia, Qatar, Trump’s USA, and Saudi Arabia is corruption and evil beyond belief.

For 2034, more care will be taken to avoid allegations of corporate manslaughter than to actually prevent the deaths of thousands.
In a few weeks time, FIFA will gift Saudi Arabia the most popular sporting event in the world, the consequences will be bloody. Powerful piece by Barney Ronay on FIFA’s responsibility for the inevitable loss of life that will result from Gianni and FIFA’s choice
