Van Hollen is, curiously, one of very few electeds acting the way the founders envisioned—using the opportunity of one of the branches overreaching to further his own career. It’s a good thing, but passing strange we don’t see more of it.

Back in 2020, Trump fired 5 inspectors general over the course of two months.

At the time, @amandacarpenter.bsky.social wrote in The Bulwark, "had Trump fired all of the inspectors general in a single night, it might have aroused more outrage."

Now comes news he fired 17 all at once tonight—
