My current wip was multiple short stories in the same universe, so multiple arcs within the whole work, but normally I attempt to keep character arcs at one per chapter. And the 'story arc' is the characters learning to work together to solve the issue at the end of the story.

I'm going through the second draft of my wip right now. My first step is to get rid of as many passive verbs as possible to make the sentences more interesting. Idk if that helps.

Just took notes on my phone for changes to my WIP on lunch at my jobjob. So yeah, just trying to carve out moments where I can.

To be clear though, I've been carving out more time lately to write, but family emergencies keep kinda happening.

The editor of those short stories literally told me to 'use better words'. Now, he WAS being a dick, which are his wife's words, not mine, buuuut he might have had a point. Because the novel version is already improving.
