It was a fantastic week at BNL for our AHEAD workshop where we taught US ATLAS folks about the basics of digital design and HLS for FPGAs in particle physics. I learned a tremendous amount and had a ton of fun.

When you look at Legos in our house they look back at you.

Trading off speed for resources is a good summary of how to optimize your HLS code and I feel like my work in preparing for our workshop is now officially done.

How many of the much younger participants at our HLS bootcamp in two weeks are going to appreciate this slide I just made? I suspect not enough.

I ordered 30 NEspresso pods for our offices with our usual home coffee order. I was sent 750 pods. I'm tired but not THAT tired? (Trying to see if they'll let me send them back.)

In honor of last week's holiday, the 7YO and I pulled out some old, fun code to estimate pi. I love that he's excited by this even if he doesn't get everything fully.

I was tasked with taking photos of the cheetah and my train this morning. I'm pretty certain that the cheetah is faster than my Metra train. And by the cheetah, I mean... this toy, not the real animal.

How it's going this morning? Arguing during a code review about
for(...) {
if (...) continue;
}
vs
for (...) {
if (...) {
}
}
And honestly, this is gif is the only right answer.
