Higgs bosoner with the ATLAS experiment at CERN, Professor and DGS of Physics @ Northern Illinois University. Interested in pineapple on pizza and the Mets, severe dislike of deep dish pizza and the Cubs.
The couple next to me in line at Costco seems to be purchasing only cases of water, croissants and mayo and I don't want an invitation.

The year is 2025. We are still trying to provide explanations of contributions to ATLAS TDAQ into a web form with 80 character limits. Technology is hard.

Dear students: Despite endless reminders and nagging and explanation, way too many of you are still plagiarizing your lab reports. Not only is it unethical, but it will also affect your grade. Another consequence is that it's a lot more work for me! Please stop. Love, Jahred

Mattermost is doing its best today to prove that not open-source software is useful or good. (MM is usually pretty mediocre but especially so today)

Dear APS, WTF am I submitting a letter of support for a student by copy-pasting text into a form instead of uploading a PDF? Love, Jahred

Stuck in a meeting at 530 am and wondering why I can vote for the President of the US weeks in advance of Election Day, but we can only vote for the Publication Committee Chair during this meeting.

This year's Nobel Prize in Economics goes to anyone who can understand the complex currency negotiations in our house involving band-aids and old bags of candy.

Looking to write Terry Pratchett crossover fan fiction for the younger kids. It'll be called 'A Hat Full of Sky'. It's about a flying dog named Sky who happens to be a witch that saves the day.

Competitive parenting: Holding a tired almost 3 year old in your arms while cooking while also changing batteries in a remote control car. I'm ready for the Olympics. Put me in coach!

Today, Monday afternoon, a man on the bench wished me a Happy Friday. Was it a joke? Is he gaslighting me? Otherwise?

Microsoft UI engineer: Let's unnecessarily move the Outlook mobile app action buttons from the top to the bottom of the screen. Second engineer: Oooh that'll distract users from this shitty product. Great idea!

Just booked a meeting with my PO using an awful online Microsoft tool.It did not tell me what time zone I was booking for, so I assumed it was for the person I'm trying to talk to (east coast). But *after* I booked it told me I picked a time in Chicagoland.Though I'm not there, I'm at CERN. #$@%$$%.

Isn't the scandal here that anyone would ever want to attend a Coldplay concert? Listening Coldplay is surely grounds for divorce.

Have you truly lived if you haven't gone for a gorgeous hike on the Salève with your two kids... One in the bag on your shoulders screaming 'I Don't Want To Be Here!' loudly every 15 seconds for over 30 minutes ?

The look on 7YOs when I explained I took very few books back with me from Geneva and the exception was Terry Pratchett! He's off to find the next Tiffany Aching books from our shelves. Now if only I knew how to not sound like a NYer in Scotland with a verbal tick when reading Nac Mac Feegle dialog
