For what it's worth those needle threaders especially the cheap metal ones are functionally consumables for me. I get like 4-5 uses out of those before the wire comes out of the handle

Be aware that there's been a huge invasion of AI into the space for creation of patterns - caveat emptor, etc. I do also trawl charity shops for leftovers donated at cheap prices but that's more a cost saving measure. My goto website is also British but try yarntree.com

Sadly for cross-stitch you're not looking for yarn, you're looking for embroidery thread (typically the company DMC). Sadly my experience is British - not American but all craft shops and some charity shops here sell cross stitch kits and they are on Amazon also - they'll have fabric, thread, needle
