My favorite in the list is that Trump will supposedly allow foreign students to study in the US, as though this affects the OP in any way, shape, or form.

Never mind whether the policy is good (it is) or bad, it probably won't affect him at all!

I'd put forth that you can also see this dynamic in the original colonization of the Americas. Massachusetts Bay Colony was a "city on a hill," Rhode Island was an offshoot of Puritan culture, Pennsylvania was a home for Quakers, etc.

Meanwhile, Jamestown was explicitly a moneymaking venture.

The Christmas card, by itself, was basically a confession.

Spoiler too if you aren't inclined to listen to the clip - they also increased in math scores, even though they didn't make any major shift in their math curriculum during that time. It turns out other subjects become easier when you have better reading skills!

Mississippi and Lousiana have had massive turnarounds in their elementary school reading scores in the past four years, and the only thing their schools changed is a complete shift to phonics. www.npr.org/2025/05/20/1...

In my favorite high school movie (Mean Girls), Regina told people at school that Janice was a lesbian. The RUMOR about Janice was so traumatizing for her that, years later, she encouraged Cady to sabotage Regina.

In the musical remake that came out recently, they omitted the lesbian subplot.

I grew up in uber-liberal Boston, and when I was in high school, I knew of two different kids who were *literally* kicked out of their homes because they were gay.

A third kid took his life; the rumors around school was that he was also gay, contributing to his decision.

Jewish people have as much of a right to self determination as everyone else, including Palestinians.

I remember explaining to my science-major college roommate that 170k wasn't enough for members of Congress to maintain two households and travel to and from their districts, and she looked at me like I had two heads.

It's the Chappaquiddick Shuffle. He's a Kennedy; it's in his lineage.

I also suspect that if Sliwa had dropped out, many of his supporters would have either not voted or have voted for Mamdani. I think Sliwa and Mamdani share a certain base of support from working-class New Yorkers, and both candidates clearly love the city.

The shirts have pre-existed Charlie Kirk's death by several years, unsurprisingly.
