🚨 UK Govt will propose bottom trawling bans in English offshore protected areas at #UNOC today!

🌊 Many could be FULL bans over the WHOLE area. 🎉

If implemented, this could protect an area of seabed DOUBLE the size of all England’s national parks combined! 🪸 Stay tuned for updates as they come.

A very interesting and heartening intervention, now we need urgent action to address the barriers to community led rewilding, and whole site protection for our MPAs.
Great to hear Minister Emma Hardy present the UK Government's ambition for our seas at the Ocean and Coastal Futures Conference this morning.

It was heartening to see the vital role of MPAs in tackling the biodiversity and climate crises recognised.

Recovering our seas and marine biodiversity simply means removing the worst activities that impact our seas. That's what we have been doing on the Isle of Arran for 30 years. Taking ACTION to recover our seas one step at a time.

🚨🚨 BREAKING: Only 44% of key habitats & species within UK marine protected areas are in favourable condition. 😠

Time to get a move on & properly protect our ocean havens. We can start by kicking #BigOil & destructive bottom trawlers out of protected waters. 🚫

Puffins, Kittiwakes, Razorbills—the UK’s decision to end sandeel fishing was a hard-won lifeline for our struggling seabirds.

The EU’s move to challenge it risks undoing that progress. 🚨

We urge the Commission to support, not undermine, this key step for marine biodiversity.
