The irony of the whole Brexit fuck-up, lost on most Brits, is that the UK (officials like Lord Cockfield) played a leading role in shaping the EU, as summarised by @jacopobarigazzi.bsky.social

Many diplomats think that the European Parliament is not a serious institution, MEPs seem to love not missing chances to prove they are right, I saw pictures like that so many times that it’s just utterly depressing
Israel-Iran war? Gaza? Who cares?

It’s dinner time at the European Parliament in Strasbourg

I hope they will not complain if Kallas refuses to be part of this circus.

I'm afraid that as long as Putin or a Putin-like leader is in charge, this is true. I don't rule out the possibility of change - one could have written the same about permanently warlike Germany before 1945 - but it may take similar cataclysmic change to persuade Russia that imperialism doesn't pay.
There will be war in Europe, continuous or periodic, as long as Russia is able to wage wars.
Anyone discarding this truth is either naive or an enabler.
The only solution is to not leave any grey security zones around Russia.
