Remember: A Tariff is a regressive sales tax ultimately paid by American consumers.

One of the most alarming aspects of the Signal Scandal is the fact that Trump regime officials used the Signal app to hide what was happening from the government itself.

Signal messages National Security Adviser Michael Waltz sent to the group chat were set to disappear after one week.

That’s…

US presidents who have been in office while the Rolling Stones have existed as a band: JFK, LBJ, Nixon, Ford, Carter, Reagan, GHWB, Clinton, Dubya, Obama, Trump, Biden, and now a second time with Trump.

That's crazy.

Pretty crazy: The temporal relationship of the Rolling Stones to 2024 is about the same as the temporal relationship of the Maple Leaf Rag (1898) to the Rolling Stones when the band got going in 1962.

Obvious point. The goal of the proposed funding freeze wasn't to succeed. It was to make subequent policy initiatives seem less ridiculous (and therefore more reasonable) by comparison. #usa #americanpolitics #quickthought

Remember this and it'll make more sense: Compliance over competence.

Avoid the Narcissism of Small Differences:

The idea that the more a relationship or community shares commonalities, the more likely the people in it are to engage in interpersonal feuds and mutual ridicule because of hypersensitivity to minor differences perceived in each other.

Avoid pointing fingers. Focus on finding common ground and solidarity with potential allies.

This is quite a thread coming from the leading expert on tyranny and autocracy. I push you to read it all. It'll make you sit up straight.
13. Hegseth thus represents a policy of regime change. Trump’s nomination of Hegseth is best understood as part of a decapitation strike against the republic. A Christian Reconstructionist war on Americans led from the Department of Defense is likely to break the United States.

This 2006 piece bears consideration through the lens of political action: "The home runs you almost hit don’t count.. Any marketing plan that is nothing but a series of attempted home runs has a problem. The problem is that the odds don’t get better as you go along."

A friend turned me on the Jungian Life podcast. The episode on malignant narcissism and large group regression was very rich and apropos of the current moment. I've listened to it more than once. You might want to consider listening to it as well. 🧵

1/I was feeling nostalgic about WMMS FM in Cleveland last night, coming home from college in the early '80s, and listening to it in the car as we drove around doing X-Mas shopping and such. It didn't totally suit my taste anymore, but there was still something familiar and comforting about it.

Was not a big Grateful Dead fan as a younger person. But since Nov 6, I've been finding American Beauty very soothing. Listened to it like 8 times. Think I like the sound of the 2013 remaster better than the 50 year anniversary remaster version from 2020, but ymmv.

Gaetz withdrawing is good news, but sadly whoever takes his place will likely be less triggering for Dems but probably also more competent in executing policy....🙁
