Greg, there's a place in the conversation the Australia Institute to step into with a blow by blow product of trade imbalances that favour the US, and low hanging fruit for ausgov to start pruning.

Unfortunately, I fear the more likely outcome is it does see out the year, and many more, as we continue to shovel $billions into the US defence industry, only for a later president to inevitably withdraw the Virginias and offer a sub basing arrangement instead

Australia can no longer avoid a consequential term that now clearly applies to the extent of our strategic and security dependence on the US: sovereign risk. Canberra and Russell need to go back to the drawing board on the next 40 years of our defence planning. Unfortunately, I doubt they will.

I don't think it's accurate that there is any view in Denmark, Greenland or Europe that is unconcerned with or disconnected from who owns Greenland or how they come to own it.
