But snorkeling with manatees was everything I dreamed it would be, and no one is going to take that joy away from me. I MEAN LOOK AT THEM. THEY ARE TRANSCENDENT. Anyhow, ask me anything! I have one million more pics lolol.

Although in the interest of transparency, this is what I looked like under the sunglasses because some off-brand mask defog got in my eye earlier and it was getting really bad at this point. It got even worse and I wound up in the ER with a chemical burn ON MY EYE. Do not recommend.

This is what we looked like from above. We were in Homosassa, FL, where manatees come in from the Gulf every day in the winter because the river is fed by warm springs, much warmer than the Gulf in winter.

This mama and baby just... hung out with us. Evidently manatees don't have natural predators so they aren't really afraid of other creatures. We just floated around together.

Today's joy: surprise birthday flowers (a day early) from the incredible @theellechase.bsky.social, and heading out shortly for a long-scheduled massage (also from a dear friend who is a massage therapist). Some days the joy comes to you and thank god it does.

I don't have any pets (have a cat allergy, rental doesn't allow dogs) so here is me with Gringo, the A+++ horse I got to ride this summer in the Finger Lakes.

Being a "certified elder" hits different at my age, but I'll take it just the same.
