Enjoyable evening in Bristol with @annacycles.bsky.social and a select crowd. End to End touring tales remembering the late great @timcyclesthecoast.bsky.social and veering into cycling & mental health. Never a bad day on the bike, as Tim would say.

I’ve become that sort of mid-life cyclist who already has (or has had) all the normal bikes and is now only interested in the freak ones. N+2 collected today. How long before I’m sniffing around recumbents?

That’s a wrap! A fitting scene to end the last recce ride for #LostLanesScotland. By far the most challenging and rewarding Lost Lanes book to research. Book will be out next spring 🫰🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🚲Now off to have some bevvies in Glasgow. 🍻

My bike, on a bus! Good work, Border Buses. (This is the X95, Carlisle - Edinburgh, though I hopped of at Canonbie and rode to Hawick where I am now)

Someday I will buy one bar of all 23 Ritter Sport variants, gather together my 15 favourite people in the world, and together we will determine which one is the best.

Royal role models. Might have to whip this out the next time some busybody asks me where’s my helmet. 😎 #cycling

I too like this way of thinking about solar power v fossil fuels, from @ember-energy.org via @hannahritchie.bsky.social's excellent Substack newsletter.

You could say that wind power is also solar power, as it's the sun that powers the wind, via uneven heating of the earth's surface, right?

Who, where, when and what happened? And why am I posting this today?

The photos in my Lost Lanes books are 10% photography, 90% spending all day outdoors. Had a @quintinlake.bsky.social moment on my last Scottish trip. View from Ardnaneaskan to the Eilean a'Chait lighthouse and Skye. Ten minutes later the storm hit and I was cowering under a tree.

Is Charles Terront eyeing up a Breton maid or scanning the cemetery for a water tap? Or maybe both?

Finally snagged a Bike Friday New World Tourist! One of the early editions of this cult classic by the looks of it. Just need a longer stem and seat post.

Really looking forward to Ride to the Sun this month. Anyone I know on here also riding?

I was at Whiteleaf Cross at the weekend (Lost Lanes research with bike and drone). Quite an odd one that. Concorde for the Pope.

In French road signs = diversion, detour. Deviant is where it gets murky as there’s a moral judgement component.

It started with a box. Marking #WorldBicycleDay by packaging up assorted bits & pieces to send to the wilds of the North Pennines. Here, legendary bike mechanic Ninon Asuni will restore and reassemble them into a gorgeous Mark 3 Moulton aka My White Bicycle.

New fully accessible bridge now open at Abergavenny train station. A transformative win for disabled passengers and much easier when travelling with a bike. (Old bridge still there too)
