She was perceived that way because Trump led the economic discussion.

I’m sorry…when was economic populism in charge?

If Democrats keep trying to build a national coalition with centrist policies leading the way (the way they did with Clinton and Harris), they will
1) likely keep losing
2) even if they do win, America gets worse, because Republicans will just get more and more fashy.
November 15, 2025 at 4:32 AM
They did, but a lot of that was quirks of this off cycle, which you know makes gains and losses transitory. Democrats need to rebuild a durable working class majority. Otherwise even if you get a centrist win nationally (Clinton didn’t, Harris didn’t) you’re just a stopgap until more fascism.

“Harris is for they/them, Trump is for you” was so effective because Democrats weren’t saying “Republicans are for the billionaires. We’re for making them pay their fair share.”

The massive, transformational election wins are there for Democrats, if they want them. But they don’t want them, because it would mean criticizing and yes, taxing their donors.

No man. People want to hear that their politicians are fighting against people who are keeping them down. And because Democrats refuse to criticize the ACTUAL people keeping the working class down, that leaves the field open for Trump and Republicans to fabricate effective boogeymen.
November 15, 2025 at 4:15 AM
And of course it’s total bullshit, but that goes to show just how incompetent Democrats are. Nobody trusts them to be the champions of the working class because they’ve proven they’re not. Look at the cave on the shutdown. Perfect example. So now folks are easily swindled by con men like Trump.
November 15, 2025 at 4:11 AM
It’s not because of Trump, It’s because nobody trusts the Democrats, homie. Democrats are so steadfast in their refusal to criticize capital that they’ve left the field open for people like Trump to define what elitism is. They trusted him to stand up to other wealthy, powerful people more than Dems

You’re not going to convince anyone of anything until you start going after billionaires. Look around you. The obvious signs are everywhere that they’re completely out of control and have way too much wealth and power. It’s THE issue right now. And people aren’t dumb, almost everyone knows it.
November 15, 2025 at 3:44 AM
Harris lost because she started campaigning on the same neoliberal DC consulting class policy prescription that has decimated the party and has its popularity in the toilet. Nibbling around the edges on economic issues instead of bold changes. And for promising to not change course on Netanyahu.
November 15, 2025 at 3:41 AM
People like Pete, Newsom, Ezra Klein etc are literally saying give up on issues. Klein is saying to run pro lifers instead of just leading with a real populist left message. Totally psychotic given that almost all left issues (abortion included) outrun the party in ballot measures.
November 15, 2025 at 3:37 AM
You’re not going to get any buy in if people don’t think you’re sincere and authentic. If you lead with a simple message that means improving people’s material conditions and stop sucking up to capital, you’re going to get people off the sidelines and appeal to all marginalized groups.

Really? I’m curious which group we should throw under the bus for the sake of winning elections? Which issue that our voters care about should we give up on? More to the point, which elections are we going to win if we do that?
Next question, was Harris obsessed with identity politics?
