For what it's worth, #mnleg has no authority over the State Patrol, and this is theater to try to implicate Walz and make this his problem.

#mnleg is *supposed* to issue this order to the Capitol Police and Sergeant at Arms, if they were serious about it.

Niska offered the following resolution and moved its adoption: WHEREAS, the 66 members of the Democratic-Farmer-Labor (DFL) Caucus in the Minnesota House of Representatives have been absent during the first week of the legislative session; and WHEREAS, the continued absence of the DFL Caucus deprives Minnesotans residing in their districts of representation during critical debates and legislative work conducted in the House of Representatives; and WHEREAS, the citizens of Minnesota expect the House of Representatives to address pressing state issues, including the allocation of funds for the state budget to avert a government shutdown; and WHEREAS, a minimum of 68 votes is required for the House of Representatives to pass legislation; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Minnesota House of Representatives hereby calls upon Governor Tim Walz to direct the Minnesota State Patrol to locate the absent members of the DFL Caucus and ensure their presence in the House of Representatives no later than 3:30 PM on Thursday, January 23, 2025.
