At the Autumn Equinox, day and night balance, and you get very high tides!
Last night, the equinox tide made the River Otter in #EastDevon flow backwards. Thanks to the Lower Otter Restoration Project, restored habitats now boost wildlife and natural flood resilience
It's also absolutely stunning 🌊🌱

Great evening with the #EastDevon Farmers group, checking out kit that helps cultivate with less soil disturbance.

As autumn approaches, it’s time for "beat up surveys." These surveys evaluate the survival rates of trees planted in woodland creation schemes. Fortunately, the weather was on my side for this week’s survey. It was encouraging to see the trees popping out the tubes only after 7 months from planting.

The scheme will be funded by the Grow Back Greener grant scheme as a natural processes scheme. It has a beautiful copse of Oak & Birch at its heart that we will try to expand, to create a biodiverse wood/scrub mix in amongst the rocky outcrops #woodlandtrust

A few photos from a potential new woodland creation site. It's a craggy upland pasture, with an Oak/Birch woodland at it's heart. We are looking to encourage the land to establish a mosaic of scrub, woodland & open space through our Natural Colonisation - Grow Back Greener scheme. #woodlandtrust

Recently I've had a lot of leave to take. So what does a person who spends all their working time thinking about & working with trees do? Have a walk in the woods. This is Grass Woods, a fabulous ancient woodland with large Hazel coppice coops, a tonne of history inc a Brigantian hill fort & a dog

First day on here.
I'll either be wittering about rugby or nature. If anyone wants to talk about woodland creation, then I can waffle away happily.
