You are not your job, you're not how much money you have in the bank. You are not the car you drive. You're not the contents of your wallet.
The more you know the less you can bring with you when you out camping in the woods. Know how to catch food, don't need to bring it. Know how to make camp? Don't need to bring it. Know how to navigate by reading the land? Don't need a GPS. Turns out realistically all you need is a sharp knife

Post apocalypse sounds kinda nice tbh. No phones, no internet, no job, no corporate, no councils, no taxes..

Just you, the clothes you have on and the pile of non electronic stuff you had lying around. Complete reset. Sounds nice.. but to get there there needs to be an apocalyptic event. Not good

I agree with this person:

The tech landscape has shifted since windows 7. You can't buy a box for windows 11. It's online. Has ads all over it and AI that you can't disable till you get good at modifying the registry against microsoft's best wishes.

A movie you've seen more than seven times with a GIF.

A classic movie performance from Gene Wilder.

What would be quite cool? Electroboom building an induction forge and alec steele testing it. Seems like a good partnership

Truly rich people, tend towards showing off. Buying big mansions, fancy cars and massive boats as a wallet measuring contest against other rich people. So. Your behaviour at the small scale of keeping up with the jones's is the same but at a smaller scale.

Does it make you happy? Or just broke

I'm genuinely curious how executives, especially marketing executives, are reacting to Silksong hype

In development for 6 years, with basically zero communication except "yep, still making it", and other studios are delaying games so they're not lost in it's wake

Basically impossible to replicate

Prayers don't stop guns from operating, thoughts don't stop people carrying them into schools and public spaces, religious twaddle does not enact any legislation to stop people from shooting up the place...

The US is no.1 in school shootings, that's a bad record to hold...

This week, Jay Kuo exposes how Trump and the GOP are laying the groundwork to rig the 2026 midterms, and Amelia Mavis Christnot tells the story of Indigenous ironworkers who helped build America. Don't miss either piece.
This Week In The Big Picture
One of the most frequent comments and fears expressed from readers is that Trump is planning to outright cancel next year’s midterm elections.

one of the most interesting sides of working at a well sized social media company is getting to see the Other Side of the internet. it’s not a pretty place.

most people don’t realize how much we clean up compared to how much slips through. watching logs of stuff getting actioned is kind of insane.

I see advertising for EDC all over the place. It's a heavily americanised term meant for optimising what tools you have in your pocket to the day infront of you, so you have the tools you're most likely to need on hand. So, your every day carry.

sorry to get political, but if they wanted to protect kids, they would feed them. they would invest in their education. they would build more parks, more programs, and invest in their future.

if they wanted to protect kids, they would build a world meant for them.

Abortions will continue to happen. It will be reverting to back alley abortions and women will die. They don’t care.

They only care about the unborn. Soon as you're born as a living breathing crying human they lose interest. The adoption homes and orphan centres will take care of them. Or, they'll find more trashcan babies and dropped-on-the-church-steps babies.
Yet the Republicans have no plans about what to do with all the unwanted babies that will be born as a result.

I think trump did more to "normalize" rape and incest than any piece of porn ever has, because his victims were real people and he never faced any consequences for it despite publicly bragging about grabbing women by the pussy and how fuckable he thinks his daughter is.
