He should be prepared, too, in the first few weeks at least, to get tired enough to need a nap in the middle of they day. Sleeping sitting up in a recliner might be easier than trying to get back into bed. An hour or so nap in the middle of the day can do wonders.

I've gone through that surgery myself. Sneezing is terribly painful, so do your best to keep the room dust and allergen free.

Allegory works best when it's reductive. Too many details (like fully-rounded characters) confuse the audience.
