Do you know what would stop or at least slow this process? ID-ing in print and TV the people who have been so good at making the 10+1 CM dmce like monkeys. These oligarchs couldn’t stand the publicity and negative attention. They hate it. Print and TV are unlikely to help.

Cara’s play on the convention center may have been a conviction… or not. She flipped on the 345 teardown, which very beneficial to the southern downtown landowner. She is one of the few CMs to receive his family donations. He was since redistricted to her after Lee K termed out.

Chad was a B_G champion of the convention center, so this is not new. I recommend you look at his history of donors.

Good article.

I hope you are right, and I hope the past history of not naming names (Tollway/Park, Omni hotel, Convention Center) is history.

Here’s a post in August from The Crooner. He has these show and tell meetings when he smells consulting money. So, it’s likely talks started getting serious in late summer.

If more than 1 reporter would name names, it would change this project and it might change how often we are grifted by B_G real estate.
November 12, 2025 at 8:45 PM
You are the least lazy reporter in the city. I’m asking because every trine B_G real estate wants a handout, no media org in this town will report which person(s) is driving the effort. Laura Miller was the last person name names.
November 12, 2025 at 8:39 PM
Let me ask more directly: have you and your colleagues been told who in the business community is driving this project besides the Adelsons? Is it verboten to report this?
November 12, 2025 at 8:31 PM
You mean billingsley, hall and todd? They wrote about it, but they haven’t been reported as having a stake. There are always oligarchs who help fellow oligarchs. I don’t think anyone has reported who is driving the bus as is always the case with these projects.
November 12, 2025 at 8:29 PM
There have no reports confirming which business people are pushing city staff for this real estate play. Sure, the Adelsons, but who else? This was also true of all of Hunt’s taxpayer funded projects. That should change starting with this project.

I would be grateful if you could report the specific business people driving this initiative, because they are rarely ID’d when B_G Real estate wants our tax money. You are one of the few people willing to report this info. These are the people that we need to lobby, not CMs.

You’d make some people happy if you can ask and report his answer.

Is Anchia also an advocate for the removal of City Hall?

4/ Q: “What the hurdle [to developing downtown]. What’s the issue?”

A: “We need a mayor. I mean, we need somebody who shows up at the table with a vision and understanding of how to get to done and can assemble the right players in the right place.”
November 12, 2025 at 2:32 AM
3/ “If I was mayor for a day, it’d be like I would focus all energies on residential downtown […] but don’t pretend you’re going to try to get office tenets down there.”

Note: That’s interesting because Washburne’s father in law and the convention center development are doing the opposite.

2/ “If you look at downtown Dallas [near city hall], the property owners around that, myself and Jack Matthews, that’s it

If we can create a dictatorship down there [near city hall] where you have, you know, Jack’s property, mine and that 75 acres [of city hall] with that arena is kind of keystone”
