I just find this grid to be such an excellent way to say "I want to explore this, but there's a difference between as a FUN thing vs as a RISKY thing."

The resurgent success over the past few years of 'The Secret History' doesn't necessarily surprise me, except that it has the most unforgivably ugly cover. This thing needs a redesign!

Recently finish the @aptshadow.bsky.social's Final Architecture trilogy cause I was looking for a slick, modern space opera with cosmic horror nods. It was that!

But it also feels like this stealthy update to atompunk/raygun gothic motifs. Like I feel like the covers should have been more like...

My latest YouTube video got hundreds of comments about IRL TTRPG organizing, variations in playstyle, the fracturing of interests in TTRPGS. Tons of thoughtful stuff. But these are the kinds of comments that keep me up at night.

Fiancé got back from visiting her family and this was already set on the table for her arrival. Welcome home, get rekt.

You know what else is fun as hell? Taking edibles and watching ‘Hundreds of Beavers.’

So I did a boatload of research, my big preference (by price too) is for Mats by Mars, I've got this winter one here, and you can see it in action in the photo below.

Not sure what size you're looking for, but they're great for wet-erase markers and very customizable. matsbymars.com/products/mat...

My urban coastal elitist TTRPG take: You should not be able to buy the in-store exclusive editions of anything at all without going into a store. The whole point of these sorts of things is to promote local retail and local game spaces.

This reminds me of the current draft of the Paladin for Jason Lutes’ Freebooters on the Frontier 2e, currently playtesting!

Not shown: You get XP at the end of the session for making progress in your Quest.

One of the most thrilling design experiences is to write a prototype of something, throw it into layout, and put it in front of players within just a few days.

I ran a Monster of the Week game where my buddy played a wealthy jazz-age ghost, brought hatefully from the dead by modern renovations being done on his family’s historic Brooklyn brownstones.

These are from the Pinterest board he made:

Big trend in using tarot cards in TTRPGs, and here I am, settling in for the evening to write a tarot-based worldbuilding mini-game, being a part of the problem.

Every collaborative worldbuilding game I play is doomed to end up with a region like this.

Currently working on a short quest/adventure for Follow, by Ben Robbins. I'm calling it 'The Feast' and it's inspired by movies like Babette's Feast, the ending of Pig (2021), and a couple of scenes in Phantom Thread.

Quests for 'Follow' are addictively easy to put together!

I really believe that when this thing drops someday, it’s going to be the new standard in fantasy worldbuilding games. Ancient civilizations, deep time, gods, mortals, peoples, empires, and everyone at the table has a hand in the making of it all!

I’ve been playtesting Jason Lutes’ new map-based group worldbuilding game ‘Worldwizard’ and nothing could be a more intense way of getting a whole table excited for a new fantasy campaign.
