The most brutal aspect of AI Overviews is its killing traffic to the very same publishers it’s stolen from, taking copyrighted IP and feeding it to its models so it can spit out answers without users needing to click on a link.
The biggest mass theft of our time, going completely unpunished.

Anecdotally, it's been the same in business.
Everyone was giving lip service to carbon offsetting and/or developing more sustainable business practices a few years ago.
Now, at least in media, it's all AI AI AI without any indication the increased energy consumption is even being audited.

It would not be in the best interest of a traitor to be the only person asking for another vote. It'd be an unnecessary gamble.
Just seemed a silly risk to take to not go down to a final 2 if your gut in uncertain.

Nick’s logic with Joe I think was fair. What I didn’t understand is why he didn’t vote to get to final 2 with David if he repeatedly said he had a question mark on Alan.
What do you risk by going to another vote? Why not be absolutely sure?

Democrats would be wise to embrace Mamdani's communication style, focused messaging, and positive attitude.
Policy can be worked out and bartered over. The US political system is messy and doesn't easily reward idealists. That's not a reason to not elect idealists - or campaign as one.

In a Q3 trading update yesterday, ITV warned total ad revenues would decline 9% yoy in Q4 and 6% yoy for FY2025.
CEO Carolyn McCall blamed the decline on macro factors, but the wider UK ad market is expected to *increase* 7.3% in Q4.
The issue is that growth is going to Meta, Amazon and Google.

ITV warns of another golden quarter ad revenue drop
For the second time in as many years, ITV warned total ad revenue would decline by high-single digits in Q4. CEO Carolyn McCall attributed the performance to macroeconomic uncertainty over the November Budget.

Would the UK's Competition and Markets Authority approve the sale?
It would've been unthinkable a few years ago, but things have changed. Linear TV is a declining business and Comcast could argue that without consolidation, ITV risks being a minnow in the streaming wars.

What's been consistent is Americans are upset about the status quo. They're upset about wealth inequality, the economy, and the lack of a social safety net.
If anything, there may be an incumbent *disadvantage*, assuming the status quo doesn't improve sufficiently (Biden) or deteriorates (Trump).

Political punditry is never not overly sensational.
Democrats lose (an admittedly hugely consequential election) by pretty thin margins and everyone is ready to declare the party dead. It's at rock bottom. Then, turns out voters still hate Trump and a year's worth of columns are suddenly outdated.
