I knew what you meant, don't worry. The novel is a harrowing read. I later found the film on YouTube, but it doesn't have the same impact as the book.

Aye, I had gathered that👍

Aha! I stand corrected. I left the book on the book table in the hotel. I wonder whether anyone else read it. I hope so, it left an impression.

I read that book on holiday in Tenerife, around three years ago. The hotel had a book table, I was desperate for something to read, came across it. I think his name was Dalton Trimbo, not Trump. An absolute horror story. There is a film, but it doesn't have the same impact.

I've got a lot of books to read, mostly picked up from charity shops. I randomly chose a novel from my ever growing collection. "All Quiet on the Western Front" is a horror story. Respect to the poor sods on both sides.

If it's the film, it's probably my favourite. Diana Rigg steals the show, and the theme music is stirring imo

I think that has potential👍

Tragic. How sad some people are willing to abandon humanity, but has always been the way for a certain sort of people. I wish your man good fortune, hope he is okay.

This is how we imagined fairy stories in those days🙂

Wow! How poignant, is that near Lichfield?

Indeed...

Isn't "hardcore" a builders' term for rubble and what have you, that gets buried under foundations and covered in concrete?

Studying a second language is so important. I know it may be trite to mention, but I am always embarrassed to be from the UK when in Europe and the folk are bilingual, indulging in my clumsy attempts to speak (eg) Spanish or French. I wish I'd have paid more attention at school.

I was glad to get out of it tbh, but nearly 20 years later still know the PHQ(9) questions off by heart, and remember some of the curved balls I was thrown

I did a year, 2006 - 2007. I had training in CBT, but to be honest, I never used it. As you will know, just having someone to listen and taking note to is often more useful than doing a Becks Depression Inventory etc
