I'd be hesitant to draw any sort of overarching trend. Nintendo specifically has a tendency to stick with an idea for exactly two consoles – NES-SNES, Wii-WiiU, DS-3DS, could argue N64-GC and GB(C)-GBA

I remember being amazed that one company had three of the top four most downloaded social apps on most stores (usually Twitter at 2 or 3). Now I shudder at the monopoly society encouraged to take root.

Zuck was terrified of G+, and understandably so – the biggest player imaginable was darkening his doorstep, and the tech outlets were abuzz (heh) with rave reviews of the shiny UI and, especially, the fine-grained controls provided by circles. No more drunk pics shared to Mom or your boss here!
