I'm reading some books on the subject. They are horrifying.
In the 1960s, we had a conference where the participants literally planned out how many missiles they would need to kill every last Russian.
(We'd also lose most of the Chinese and half of Europe but, you know, collateral damage.)

I know it's so 1980s but the threat of nuclear war really hasn't gone anywhere.

I mean we literally have enough firepower to kill every single living thing on the planet multiple times. And those are just the ones that we have. How many does Russia have? China? North Korea? Iran?

At one point we had factories turning three of them out each and every day.

It just bugs me that people bandy this term about but there is zero scientific consensus about what it actually means. I mean, "Foods I think are bad for you" would work.
