I think AI (large language models) is great for this: brainstorming or generating 50 examples in a second which you can then edit and adapt.
Lacking a high quality curriculum, LLM AI can do a lot of banal work quickly.
The chief concern though, is folks using AI for the end-plan.

A bit surprising that this article doesn’t mention the Demographic Cliff. This reduction in enrollment has been predicted for the last decade. Enrollment will likely reduce substantially more over the next three years.

I also think in an effort to “create 21st century students” we have oversold the benefits of programmed instruction and undersold the benefits of a live teacher using a high-quality curriculum.
Teachers can, and should, be doing more than acting as compliance monitors for a digital instructor.

I suspect that chasing the lovely goal of “custom differentiation for everyone” we end up either
a) writing a check that most teachers can’t cash, spread too thin to be effective
Or b) setting up automated systems that serve some students very well to /if/ they’re disciplined and self-regulated.
